Adult Beginning Sewing
This class introduces the basics of the world of sewing: using the sewing machine, understanding the pattern, choosing fabric, learning sewing terms, cutting and marking fabric, understanding current construction methods, pressing, and using tools and notions. Sessions consist of demonstrations with workshop time and individual instruction. You will work on a kimono robe during class. Please ask for a supply list.

Appliqué to Go
Do you love hand appliqué but never seem to have time for it? Patty will show you easy techniques to prepare your project and make it so portable, you'll take it with you wherever you go. In class, you'll work on a simple flower of her design and learn how to apply the same methods to your own projects. Please ask for a supply list.

Appliqué for the Embroidery Module
If you haven't tried appliqué with your Embroidery Module, now is the time. Choose between two wonderful patterns from Smith Street Designs: "Wildflowers" uses glorious batik fabrics to represent realistic wild flowers; "Garden Beauty" has four traditional appliqué blocks. Both use interesting sets, and the finished quilts are lovely. Come learn how easy it is to appliqué with your embroidery machine. Pattern required but not included in class fee. Autumn at the Cabin
What could be better than a class full of new techniques to learn, or old ones to learn in a new way? Connie will cover the basic log cabin block, then teach you how to add a narrow flanged border. Add an easy leaf block and tips for how to add pieced borders to any quilt. To finish the top, you will learn a very easy, accurate way of adding multiple mitered borders. This new design is available in this class only, so don't miss it! Please ask for a supply list.

Beginning Quiltmaking
Learn to make a quilt from beginning to end in this comprehensive course. Students will work on a star wall hanging while learning the process of quiltmaking. We've broken the lessons down into two sets of sessions to allow you enough time to get your homework done!
SECTION 1
This three-week class covers the basics of designing and drafting a quilt, color, fabric selection, and machine piecing. Bring a pencil and notebook to the first class.

SECTION 2
You'll start this session with your finished blocks. You'll learn how to set them together (with lattice, set blocks, etc.), add borders, determine and mark a quilting design, develop quilting techniques, and attach binding.

Bias-Covered Curves
Circles are everywhere. We find them in nature, fabrics, architecture, and even car rims. Yet many quilters shy away from using curves in their quilts because they can be daunting to piece. Bias-covered curves add another design element to your quilt. Learn how to build curved blocks and how to cover the curves on your blocks by making bias tape. Book required but not included in the class fee. Please ask for a supply list.

Borders and Bindings
Do your quilts remind you of the ocean - all wavy? In this technique class, you'll learn how to accurately measure, cut and attach borders and bindings to quilts so they lie flat every time. Please ask for a supply list.

Camp Sew Fun
Ages 9 and up
Summer is approaching quickly, and it will soon be time for FUN-Camp Sew Fun, that is! Experience a "hands-on" week of sewing instruction designed to teach how to safely use a sewing machine, to understand and follow a pattern, and to safely use scissors while making a fun project. Classes fill up quickly so don't wait to sign up. What a great chance to have fun while being creative! Make sure to ask for a supply list. Classroom machines may be reserved in advance, on a first come, first served basis. Plan ahead and be prepared to complete a great project!
Beginners: Make a scrappy rag bag (June 16-19) or a funky Hip Hop bag (June 23-26). This class is designed for the beginning sewer, ages 9 & older.

Crazy Quilted Placemats with Napkins
Start early on those Christmas presents or make six new reversible placemats for yourself! They're fast, easy, & fun! Make them rectangular or oval, and add rick rack for trim, if you like. Connie will teach you to "fussy cut" a focus fabric to make your placemats truly unique. Add mitered napkins and the table is set! Please ask for supply list.
